When is the 2021 Ryder Cup?

Historically scheduled in mid to late September or early October, the 2021 Ryder Cup will take place from Friday, September 25 to Sunday, September 27, with a practice round on Thursday, September 24. If formatting holds from the previous events, the 43rd Ryder Cup schedule Day 1 on Friday will include 4 matches of foursome play (partners alternating shots) and 4 matches of fourball play (partners, best score), Day 2 on Saturday will be a repeat of the same setup as Friday, and Day 3 on Sunday will be a full head to head competition with 12 singles matches.

Who is playing in the 2021 Ryder Cup?

The intercontinental match plays golf competition between Team USA and the Europe Team consists of two rosters of twelve golfers. The USA Team is comprised of the top eight automatic qualifiers from the Ryder Cup points list and four captain’s choices to round out the squad. The Europe Team pairs the top four from both the Race to Dubai and World Points lists with four captain’s choices as well. History of the Ryder Cup

The Ryder Cup is a men’s golf competition held between teams from the United States and Europe. The cup is named after the Englishman who donated it to the event, Samuel Ryder. The first official Ryder Cup was held at Worcester Country Club in Worcester, Massachusetts in June of 1927, a decisive U.S. victory. For the next four Ryder Cups the host team won every time until the U.S. finally broke through in 1937 and won in Southport, England. Since then both sides have had stretches of dominance and every two years the competition grows fiercer. The Ryder Cup has seen contests between some the greatest in the game of golf, including Jack Nicklaus, Seve Ballesteros, Sergio Garcia, Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods.
